Ammonite concrete washbasin. Sink. By High Tech Design.Great washbasin design: 'Ammonite' by High Tech Design from Germany

This absolutely uniquely concrete shaped washbasin shows the natural elegant beauty of a fossilised ammonite.

The unique design was inspired by the archaic beauty of ammonites combined with the organic qualities of concrete. High Tech Design offers it in several colours, for table-mounted or wall-mounted tap/faucet.

Ammonite sink washbasin by High Tech Design. What are ammonites?
Ammonites are an extinct species of cephalopods which lived in the sea about 400 million years ago. Their shells are found all over the world and they are very much sought-after by fossil-hunters, their collector’s value depending on size and the state of preservation.

The fascinating shape of ammonite fossils – which resembles a rolled up helix – is the basic design element in the new HighTech washbasin. The association of water and fossil design is a clear allusion to the prehistoric inspiration for the Ammonite washbasin.

Ammonites get their name from their spiral shape as their fossilized shells somewhat resemble tightly-coiled rams' horns. Pliny the Elder called fossils of these animals ammonis cornua ("horns of Ammon") because the Egyptian god Ammon (Amun) was typically depicted wearing ram's horns.

This Baby Elephant Is Naughty!

Monday, 30. April 2012

This baby elephant starts off young!

Baby elephant learns how to use its trunk...
This naughty baby elephant just found out what his trunk can be used for.

A camel makes an elephant feel like a jet plane.

(Jackie Kennedy)

...And then, a few years and many exciting adventures later, that's how the grown-up elephant will look like:

Elephant with huge penis.
Notice the big ears...!

And we leave you with this quote by Charlie Chaplin:

Words are cheap. The biggest thing you can say is 'elephant'.

Intuition – A Crash Course

Wednesday, 25. April 2012

Intuition by ultrafeel.tvWhat is Intuition?

Intuition is a knowing, a sensing which is beyond the conscious understanding. It's the ability to sense or know immediately, without reasoning. Also known as 'a gut feeling' and sometimes intuition is even regarded as a divine or prophetic power.

What is the difference between genuine intuition and 'just a feeling' or 'just a hunch'?
When your logical thoughts are in conflict with your emotions, your emotions will most often win. However, your emotions are not intuition. The heart has reasons the mind could never understand, yes, but warning, even the voice of your heart is not intuition! Intuition is utterly beyond both reason (thoughts) and heart (emotions). Of course there can be intuitive emotional impressions, but when coming from 'the source' they are usually pretty quiet, gentle, fine.

The gentle and genuine voice of your intuition is the exact opposite of plain emotions like: "I feel pretty good about it, let's do it." These 'loud emotions' usually sound very convincing - but more often than not lead to complete disasters when blindly following them! Genuine intuition is a quiet and gentle, even humble, voice within you, which simply tells you what's really going on.

What if you're in doubt? How do you know whether it's really your intuition speaking to you?
How can you be sure that is not just another thought, some wishful thinking or some emotion triggered from your past experiences? How can you know that this is the voice within that you should trust? As already mentioned: Your intuition is quiet, a gentle voice, sometimes only whispering. You might see some images, faint pictures in your mind, hear soft voices. Sometimes you really need to pay very close attention to avoid overhearing the real deal. It might also need courage to listen to your subtle intuitive voice, rather than give in to your restless thoughts or screaming emotions of your feverish mind!

If still in doubt, ask your intuition...
How's that for a paradox? But it's really just that: When you finally manage to overhear the noise of your thoughts and emotions, you will automatically - intuitively - know what's true and what not!

What if your intution confronts you with strange and irrational stuff?
Often the impressions and pictures your intuition comes up with, don't make a lot of 'rational' sense. Immediately your mind will jump in and try to convince you that this can't possibly be true, "it just doesn't make sense" ...yet it stubbornly turns out to be the actual truth.

Your intuitive knowledge may also trigger fear. Don't give in to it. If your emotions are in conflict with your intuitive sensing, you must literally apply discipline: However overwhelming the fear, say thanks to your emotions - and follow your intuition!

If you're brave enough to follow your inner intuitive voice, you will be rewarded by direct and immediate knowledge, as Robert Graves put it:

Intuition is the supra-logic that cuts out all the routine processes of thought and leaps straight from the problem to the answer.

(Robert Graves)

Alexis Carrel even claims that all great people rely basically on their intuition only:

All great men are gifted with intuition. They know without reasoning or analysis, what they need to know.

(Alexis Carrel)

And beware if you're married:

Intuition is what tells a wife her husband has done wrong, before he even thinks of doing it...

So what does your intuition tell you today?

Light at the End of the Tunnel.Transformation: Let go of what has come before.

I wrote this newsletter on a night train from Basel, Switzerland to Hannover, Germany. The train travels quickly through the early morning darkness and I know that the sun is to come up soon. As the saying goes, it’s darkest before the dawn and I am seeing that now — and I know from a practical and time perspective, that it’s only a matter of minutes before dawn’s light will break and a new morning will start.

There is mystery in each new day — there are new experiences to be had, new sights, sounds and knowledge to be gained. In my case, there are old friends waiting to see me and the possibility of meeting new ones. Each 24-hours is a gift, wrapped in daylight and darkness, but each with something unique and exciting about to unfold.

As we embark on a new adventure, and as the rays of sun create morning from night, we are, in some ways, forced to let go of what has come before. Whether it is a fascinating conversation that has lasted through the night, lovers untangling themselves, laugher and celebration, or mourning and tears, we must move ahead into the new day. For me, this night that is ending contained little sleep, but instead profound meditations, productive thoughts and loving conversations. The night is at the mercy of the clock and is about to disappear; there is nothing that mere mortals can do to stop this.

Our lives, by default, are a constant process of change — of letting go of comfortable or well known situations, and to be open for new and unknown experiences or inputs. Many people get comfortable in their situation and fear and fight the change; and of course, there is the natural cycle of birth and death. Oftentimes, we would rather be with the wrong lover, in an unhappy job, or a difficult situation, because we have become accustomed to our own discomfort. We already know the pitfalls that will disappoint us, have rationalised why we remain, and give ourselves a reason why we must not change, despite the potential of happiness that change might bring. But, because there are no guarantees — no way to instantly trade in one bad experience for something that we will definitely love — we cling to what we know. Important transformations may have been dangled in front of us, and still, we remain in our unhappiness.

Economically and politically we are living in a very turbulent time. People may be forced to move to another home or area, jobs might be lost, financial security is shaky and war is waging. Political pundits and financial wizards can suggest a future, but no one is sure what will happen. Our only choice, on an individual and societal level, is to move  ahead and hope — and be courageous and be willing to allow ourselves to accept the change. Our job is to wake up every day, dig deep and hope for the best, and bring a positive attitude to each day.

Burying your head in the sand and trying to ignore the realities of the world - personal issues and economic and political issues - will not make things go away, or right the wrongs. We must learn to be like the willow tree - able to sway with the wind and not break. We must learn to change and transform ourselves, and alter the situations that we can control that make us unhealthy and unhappy. We must create a plan to change our lives to make them better and work towards that goal, instead of standing firm and miserable in our current fate. And, through this seeking of a new fate, believe that change can bear something beautiful, wonderful and fulfilling, that our former unhappy self might not have found.

If you see a wonderful landscape passing by in front of you, don’t try to keep it alive in your fantasy, but instead open yourself for the new one about to appear in front of you. Transformation, changes or death can be challenging, but they should not be feared. They represent a metamorphosis, a new dawn for upcoming moments.

Dance like no one is watching, love like you'll never be hurt,
sing like no one is listening, and live like it's heaven on earth.

(William Purkey)

Mahna Mahna By Muppet Show

Tuesday, 17. April 2012
The Muppet Show with its hilarious 'Mahna Mahna' song from 1969.

The Muppet Show was a British television program by Jim Henson, famous for its outrageous and absurdist slapstick comedy, and particularly for using its puppet characters to create humorous parodies. Each show also featured a human guest star for which many celebrities were eager to perform.

And enjoy this live version by people dressed up like the Muppets.

I stay here

I do not understand,
what I am doing here,
when I just found you
and you are there.

My mind sends
a momentary impulse
to all my muscles:
Get up, go be with him!
Now! What else is more important?
Why should he have to wait?
He wants your love now
and he deserves it.
Deserves all you can give
and more!

And the impulse comes,
and I ignore it.

There is you and there is nothing else
that matters more.
What the heck am I doing here?
All so stupid and
meaningless,
compared to making love
to you.

What if he does not want to
love you later?
Why should he wait till you are
all done and ready
with all this stuff
that has no point
without him?

I want to go to you
and wrap my arms
and legs
around you,
my heart aches to give you
all, all of me
all I ever had,
all I have,
all I ever will,
to put it at your feet
just take me...
What am I still doing here?

And my answer?

The impulse comes --
“just go!
there's the door and
there's my car, and...”
...nothing.

I stay here.
